I call her name Sweetly ‘cause I know it’s a game She’s gossamer in front of a flame And my heart’s beating I zig she zags Now she’s over there folding her rags Tonight she’ll be packing her bags While I am sleeping Sheryl Rene Watch her go and tell me now say Ever see a vision so pretty fade away? Breaking news She’s completely unaware of my blues Blowing kisses that will give me a bruise And her a giggle But I hold her tight With each and every ounce of my might Cause I know that just a little daylight Can let her wiggle Sheryl Rene Watch her go and tell me now say Ever see a vision so pretty fade away? Why ask why? Til death do . . .why even try? The ink it ain’t even dry There on the paper Her Catholic tastes And all the things I love in her face Have been waste Now in her vapor Sheryl Rene Watch her go and tell me now say Ever see a vision so pretty fade away? Just walk away Rene

Tide pools Baby they’re just tide pools. They can’t pull you under or drown you in a wave. All the silly creatures living in the tide pools think they make their own rules in their pretty shallow grave. is that blood there on your ankle divine? Some kind of ink or is it sweet ocean wine? Ocean wine Don’t flinch. I think I see a starfish. Baby make a good wish and promise not to say But was it bout the two fools wading in the tide pools and wasting life away. . . is that blood there on your ankle divine? some kind of ink or is it sweet ocean wine? Ocean wine, intoxicating Put a little buzz into me Cause I’m...tired of waiting. Tonight I’m gonna swim out to sea. Are you coming with me? is that blood there on your ankle divine? Some kind of ink or is it sweet ocean wine?

My big blue heart Well it’s mine and mine only. It bleeds when it’s lonely And cries when it bleeds. My big blue heart Well I came by it honest. With each broken promise It grew like a weed. Somewhere in America tonight All the girls are out lookin' For some Mr. Right. I sit alone in my little nest And I tend to the monster that grows in my chest. So don’t even start… You’re never gonna break my big blue heart. My big blue heart It’s got so many chambers. Pride, jealousy, anger But mostly just spite. It’s long in the tooth. It ain’t big on virtue. And it just might hurt you If you touch it just right. Somewhere in America tonight All the girls are out lookin' For some Mr. Right. But I sit alone in my little nest And I tend to the monster that grows in my chest. So don’t even start You’re never gonna break my big blue heart. Maybe one of these days You’ll change your ways Turn this heart back to red. But this old blue heart It’s all that I got dear. And as long as you’re not here It’s all that I need.

What a coup, what a tragedy You show up dressed to play. When I try to touch you You slap my hand away. I move in clever To steal a kiss. You tell me "never" And you hit and then I miss. And I say I could use some TLC. Oh and you only give me TNT. You're so loveless. You're so loveless. I bought you diamonds. I gave you cash. I made you a valentine And you threw it in the trash. I feel so stupid. I just can't figure. I turned to Cupid. But you went and stole his quiver. And you say you're doing fine without. Oh, I'll stay in case you come about. You're so loveless You're so loveless You're so loveless It's a crying shame. Oh my darling you're so fond of saying You're doing just can't be without For forever I'm going to staying Til you find out what love's all about. You're so. . . You're so loveless You're so loveless You're so loveless

Look around Little Wonder this is your time. Take one step then another, I promise I won’t mind. Shadows tugging at your shoulders but they can’t hide your grace. You know you look a little older with your hair down on your face. And if that mockingbird don’t sing, and if that lucky star don’t shine You know that I’m here with my rescue gear. Baby’s ready for the close up. See her shine. The whole world’s lining up to be her valentine. Every time the devil whispers in your ear. I’m just around the corner, don’t you ever fear. And if that mockingbird don’t sing, and if that lucky star don’t shine, You know that I’m here with my rescue gear. Solo And if that mockingbird don’t sing, and if that lucky star don’t shine, You know that I’m here with my rescue gear. I’m here.

Emily What would you say if you could talk to me Desperately Put down your grown up things and come with me And we’ll ride a sleepy daydream built for two While the walls around us crumble I don’t care, do you? Emily I can’t believe the way we have to live Silly me Feeling so low when you have so much to give And if you skipped out and left me all alone I lay buried in the backyard underneath your bones Emily And the world would be so wise If it saw itself through your two eyes And I know that it’s true. I love you And the world would be so wise If it saw itself though your two eyes And I know that it’s true. Come with me

I probably shouldn't tell you this. I probably shouldn't tell you this. I’m high on wine So I probably shouldn’t tell you this But I go blind Everytime I get a kiss from your lips It drives a stake right through my soul Nervous shakes out of control Every time your lips meet mine I go blind, I go blind I lose control Every time you’re close at hand Love struck fool Looking for a place to land (in your arms) In this borderline obsession I know you're thinking that’s not what love is all about But despite my sad confession Would you me in and never, never, never, never, never let me out Every time I touch your skin I fall in. I fall in. Where do the broken go for comfort When the night is broken too? This one turns to you. You're just in time To save me from myself tonight It’s half past nine And something in my head ain’t even close to right You see me I’m trapped beneath the pell of your spell If you leave me now I’ll face a million fires But what the hell (let me burn) I probably shouldn’t tell you this. I probably shouldn’t tell you this. I probably shouldn't tell you this. I probably shouldn't tell you this.

Check out hte new Boy Wonder he's Zoomin' across the sky. No one will ever understand The Boy Who Could Fly. So I sit in the corner and Wait for the paint to dry. Oh damn this gravity. Why me oh why? If I said I believed in you Clicked my heels and Looked up to the sky Hey, I can fly. And from tiny steps to bounds I can't even try. Too many ways without the means And wolves to cry. As you look down on the world From the good sweet by and by. Laughing I know I'll never be The Boy Who Could Fly The Boy Who Could Fly If I said I believed in you Clicked my heels and Looked up to the sky. Hey I can fly. Ruffle the angels' wings. Faith is a funny thing. Stab the air, got no prayer. It's a long, long way down there. (solo) Check out the new Boy Wonder he's Zoomin' across the sky. No one will ever understand me (Boy Who Could Fly). No one will ever understand me (Boy Who Could Fly). (Boy Who Could Fly) 'Cause if I said I believe in you Clicked my heels and Looked up to the sky The sky.

Oh but my how time flies When we’re together it seems By the time the blood dries, I’m left alone with my dreams Lock the door. It’s too late to settle the score. You bring the medicine, I’ll bring the cure. Once again I’ll pretend you’re not my ex-girlfriend. Look away bite your lip But i know what’s under that dress Lose your mind let it slip It’s done and I couldn’t care less Lock the door It’s too late to settle the score You bring the medicine, I’ll bring the cure. Once again I’ll pretend you’re not my ex-girlfriend. What are friends for? Five years of falling on my knees This disease takes its toll on my soul Was it you who once said “Never never again” Then you laughed while I bled. How can I call you a friend?

Baby step on out of the shadows Let the light touch your pretty hair The few gray hairs that you have Well they look really good with the red You think you’ve lost all your beauty That time came and took it from you But baby I feel it’s my duty To say this to you You still shine like diamonds You still glow like stars Light up the way babe Wherever you are You try hard to hide all the bruisin' And you cover and color the scars It’s only time that you’re losin' And speaking of time It’s getting late and here we are And you shine like diamonds You still glow like stars You still shine like diamonds You still glow like stars And you light up my world babe Wherever you are All you ever lost was some time

about

Amarillo based artist and musician Jefferson Douglas is in dire need of our help. He has lost his home, car and most of his possessions while caring for his dying mother, navigating the global pandemic and struggling to access necessary medical procedures and mental health resources.

Austin musician Craig Bagby has initiated a fundraising campaign to help his friend overcome these obstacles. The campaign aims to raise funds for Jefferson to stay in his humble family home, settle bills, and showcase his remarkable artistic and musical skills to the world.

Despite facing serious health issues, abject poverty and losing most of his possessions while continuing to accumulate debt, Jefferson continues to create art and music using his smartphone. His artwork boasts vibrant colors and originality, reflecting his unwavering passion and commitment to his craft.

Now Craig Bagby, Jefferson’s former bandmate in 90’s Amarillo bands Film at 11 and the Groobees, has rounded up a group of renowned Austin based musicians and launched a fundraising campaign centered around a 10 song album of Jefferson’s songs titled “Hoof Dog: The Songs of Jefferson Douglas”, which is a reference to one of the artist’s most recognizable works.

Co-producers Craig Bagby and Scott Davis arranged the songs to best showcase the depth and breadth of Douglas' writing. It's not a single genre record. There's something for everyone. Rock, synth pop, soul, traditional country, folk, psychedelic country, Americana. It's here.

And in the same manner that Steely Dan would bring in the individual musicians who were best suited for each song on albums like Aja, Bagby and Davis brought in the singer or band who best suited the vibe of each song.

The result is an album featuring Graham Weber, The Belle Sounds, Kelly Willis, Charlie Faye, Nobody's Girl, Scott Davis, The Tender Things, Ray Prim, Bonnie Whitmore and one final love song sung by Jefferson Douglas himself, which he sang directly into his phone.

“Beyond the need for immediate help, I believe that Jefferson’s songs and art are important and need to be shown to the world beyond those of us who follow him on social media,” said Bagby. “The quality and creativity of his work speaks for itself. It needs to be seen and heard.”

This campaign aims to alleviate Jefferson's financial burdens, support his mental health, and expose his exceptional work to a broader audience. We want to provide Jefferson with a fresh start and show him that his art and music matters.

Please, help us help Hoof Dog.
